Raquel Ventura - Town Clerk, Town of
Haverstraw
Raquel Ventura was born in Corona, Queens and moved
to Haverstraw with her husband, Angel and her
daughter, Stephanie to Haverstraw in March 1989. In
Haverstraw, she welcomed three other
children: Michelle, Angelica and Anthony.
Raquel has been an active citizen in the Town of
Haverstraw, serving in many capacities in the
community. She has been a board member of the
Haverstraw Ecumenical Project from 1995-2000, was
PTA President for Head Start in 1990, involved with
Girl Scouts from 1995-1997, and taught in the
religious education program at St. Peter’s School
from 1993-2000. She is also a member of the
Emergency Operations Center.
From 2003-2017 she worked as a circulation clerk at
the Haverstraw King’s Daughters Public Library, both
in Garnerville and Haverstraw where she served the
public, not only with library issues, but also with
her vast knowledge of both the Town and County.
Raquel is currently a member of the North Rockland
Rotary Club and the Columbiettes.
Since 1997, Raquel has served the Town of Haverstraw
in the Town Clerk’s office; serving as Deputy Clerk,
first under Josephine E. Carella and then under
Karen L. Bulley. After Mrs. Bulley’s retirement in
February 2017, Raquel was appointed to finish out
her term as Town Clerk. Her office is busy, issuing
various Town licenses, assisting residents with
genealogy searches (births, deaths and marriages
from 1881), performing marriages in both Spanish and
English, and processing the bills for all the
departments of the Town. She also is happy to
provide services as a Notary to all Town residents.
She is proud to serve the Haverstraw
community and she and staff are readily available to
assist the public.
